As I've noted before, I don't see many movies. So when I actually do see one, it's a big deal. And when I see one that's actually good, well, I'm a very happy man.

I just got back from seeing a movie, and it was very good. Changing Lanes. If you haven't seen it, see it. If you can't see it in the theaters, wait for it on video. If you've seen it already, see it again. Amid all the Spiderman and Star Wars and what have you, Changing Lanes was an unlikely choice of a movie to go see, but I'm not complaining now. This movie is so brilliant, so stunning, so original. This movie is unlike anything I've ever seen. This movie takes you on a trip of the American mind, and doesn't push the deep thoughts on you. They let it come to you. But they do come. And they are astounding. See this movie. I don't care when or where, just do it. You owe it to yourself.

Irony insued when we all rolled our eyes at the guy who left his cell phone on, AND TALKED TO THE GUY WHO CALLED HIM DURING THE MOVIE!

Twins Game #2 yesterday. T'was a day game, a field trip granted to us by the school as a thanks for spending another year in Daycare Advanced (sure, I like school, but that doesn't mean I think it can't be improved upon greatly). Twins lost to the Texas Rangers, alas, 6-5. But free ice cream outside Gate F after the game! Huzzah!

I had the option of going back to school after about one inning of baseball with a few of the teachers to catch the school bus, or stay for the whole game and be responcible for my own safety and transportation. Naturally I chose the whole game option, but my parents' schdules were uncertain. So into Downtown I walked to catch a *gasp* City Bus! Why, the very thought of little Ryan taking a city bus all alone would be insane to my grandparents. Whimps.

I live just two miles away, but I rarely go Downtown. Maybe once, twice, thrice a month. But there's been a steady decline in Downtown visits recently, especially since September 11th (*suddenly wields another thousand hits via Google*). So I hadn't been downtown for a while, and this was the first time I've been downtown all alone. I know I'm just paranoid, but every person with a backpack, briefcase, purse was a terrorist to me. The man wearing a big coat outside City Hall as I walked by? Boom. And that guy frantically crossing the street before the light changed carrying his briefcase? Boom.

No actual exploding happened, of course. As they passed by me, I reminded myself that it's just paranoia. And then things got eerie.

I got to the Nicolett Mall, where I was supposed to catch the bus. But Nicolett was closed due to construction. And so the power was out down the Mall, and busses were moved to Hennipen Avenue. So I walked down Nicolett a bit, and between the power to the lights being out and the clouds covering up the sun, everything was grey. A few people wandering down the street. Flashback to images of September 11th near Ground Zero. Just blocks away from the IDS Building, largest building in Minneapolis. Felt like I was just blocks away from the World Trade Center.

Is homeland terrorism a real threat anymore? Yes. God yes.
